To register your trailer, you can start by going to our Trailer Registration page and choosing the packet that best describes your trailer, submit the required documents listed in the packet, and make a payment. It’s just that easy! Our team will handle the rest and ensure your trailer is registered promptly.

Maine offers long-term plates at extremely low prices, no sales tax for our commercial clients on new purchases, and the option to register for up to 12 years at a time for most trailers!
Yes, Maine allows non-residents to register their trailers in the state. Our service is available to both Maine residents and non-residents.
You can renew your trailer registration by visiting our website and following the renewal process. You will need your current registration details and payment information.
That can depend on a lot of factors. Is your trailer 25 years or newer? Is it over 3,000 lbs. Empty Weight? Have you registered your trailer before in your state? If you use your trailer for Interstate Commerce more than 80% of time, while the trailer is in use, you are Sales Tax Exempt in the State of Maine and would NOT have to pay any sales tax.
However, if you are using the trailer for personal use or in a capacity that does not meet Maine’s tax exemption policy, you would owe a 5.5% sales tax based on your purchase price. (Please note that if you have paid sales tax previously or registered the trailer in your name, you would not have to pay sales tax to Maine.)
As of January 1st, 2017 we no longer register: Camper Trailers, Pop-Up Campers, RV’s, Bunkhouses, or anything with living quarters in it.
Yes, if your trailer is over 3,000 lbs. GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) AND is 25 years or NEWER Maine will allow you to title your trailer here. Please note that even if your trailer is 26 years or older or does not meet the Title Requirements, we can still Register and provide a Maine plate for your trailer.
We offer both Trailer Registration and Titling services for both residential and commercial trailers. In addition, we also can assist in obtaining duplicate registrations, lost plates, plate transfers, and other related services. Please contact us for more details.
Yes. Maine requires that in order for our agency to assist you with a registration or title we must have a signed and notarized POA for each of our clients on file. This is what allows us to fill out the state paperwork for you, so that you do not have to drive up here and sign all the state forms each time we complete a registration or title for you.
If there are any changes to your trailer information, such as a change of address, or you would like to transfer your plate to another trailer, please contact us either through email [email protected] or via our Contact Us page. We accept various payment methods, including credit/debit cards (VISA, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express), company checks, or money orders made payable to Haskell Registration. We do NOT accept Personal Checks.
The registrations fees vary based on the type of trailer and how long you choose to register it for. Maine offers competitive rates on plates that can be registered for up to 12 years at a time for most trailers. Check out our Trailer Registration packet for more prices and details, here.
Once we receive all necessary documents and payment, the registration process typically takes 1-2 business days. Your registration and plates will be mailed to you promptly. Some registrations can have plates sent within 24 hours.
Although you are required to show proof of insurance when registering your motor vehicle, you do not need to have Maine insurance. We would advise you to speak with your local insurance company to obtain insurance for your vehicle in your state.
One year. Maine does NOT offer a multi-year option for cars, vans, trucks, or motorcycles.
No. Maine reserves personalized plates, vanity plates, and specialty plates for Maine residents only.
You would not be able to register or title your motor vehicle in Maine. Please do not send us incomplete work or it will be sent back at your expense.
Packages that are received with missing or partial information will be sent back at your expense without notice.
No. All the required documents found on page 1 of the quote packet are required to be included in the same package when sent to us. We will NOT accept email or faxes of any of the documents listed on page 1 of the packet. Packages that are received with missing information will be sent back at your expense without notice.
