HOMEMADE TRAILER REGISTRATION
Registering a homemade trailer in Maine requires a few additional steps compared to registering a commercially manufactured trailer. Haskell Registration can help you understand the requirements and prepare the documents you need to complete your Maine homemade trailer registration.
Before you begin, make sure your homemade trailer has a state-assigned VIN and that a law enforcement officer completes the required Maine VIN Inspection Form.
If you wish to continue in registering your Homemade Trailer in the State of Maine we have listed some steps below to assist in this process:
- Get a State Assigned VIN (Vehicle Identification Number): The process to get a State Assigned VIN will vary between states. However, we would advise you to start by contacting your local DMV or Municipality to find out how to go about getting one in your state.
- Maine VIN Inspection Form: (Download Below) Once a State Assigned VIN # has been assigned and attached to your trailer you must have a Maine VIN Inspection Form filled out by a Law Enforcement Officer ONLY. (This is how the State of Maine verifies the new VIN.)
- NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY: (Trailer Packet Download Below) If have not yet registered a trailer with us, we will also need you to fill out one of our Trailer Registration Packets. This allows us to create an account for you that we can use for any future transactions you may do through our company. (If you are an existing client you do not need to complete a Trailer Packet. Instead, you can download our Services & Payment Form here to include with your information.)
All of the above steps must be completed in order to register your Homemade Trailer in the State of Maine.
